The show is running September 7 through October 21.
You will find two paintings of mine there. One is "The Last Almond Tree" and the other one is "Orchards on the River" or sub titled "La Bella Morte". Orchards on the River depicts the death of the San Joaquin River if we do not remove the Water Hyacinth. The Water Hyacinth is not indigenous to this area. It comes, mostly, from South America and is used in Domestic Aquariums. People unthinkingly dump the plant into the water supply or the river or ponding basins because it looks pretty, but It can GROW up to one square acre in one month. Just think how quickly the San Joaquin River could become totally engulfed with this invasive plant. You can already see it encroaching on the river from any of the bridges across the San Joaquin River. Just think what will happen if it gets into Millerton Lake and clogs up the Hydro Electrical Pumps. This is a really dangerous situation that is not being addressed by the Fresno Irrigation District, Madera Irrigation District, Department of Fish and Wildlife or any of our environmentalists.
